Framework Implementation Team (FIT)
About FIT

GIS applications serving many business purposes have a recurring need for the same base data, called Framework.  The Framework Implementation Team (FIT) works to assemble statewide datasets and share them. Government, organizations, and private companies see this effort as a way to share resources, improve communications, increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve service and decision making. Framework is a major component of the GIS Utility navigatOR.

Oregon's FIT is closely aligned with the National Spatial Data Infrastructure initiative, led by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and the President’s Office of Management & Budget.

Milt Hill chairs the Oregon Framework Implementation Team.

Oregon Framework Themes
Framework forms the data backbone of GIS. Oregon's Framework Team is focused on development and stewardship of the seven national GIS framework themes and seven commonly needed Oregon data themes.

Framework Governance Review Documents
At their December 15th meeting OGIC directed GEO to meet with representatives from PAC, FIT, and GPL to review Framework Governance. Specific topics include the FIT Charter, Standards and Stewardship document development process and FIT funding. An initial meeting was convened on Thursday, January 27th and the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23rd. We'll report progress to OGIC at their March 16th meeting. Notes and draft documents from the first meeting are available below.
