Oregon state government held its first ever career fair on Saturday, September 13th, 2008 on the Capitol’s front lawn in Salem, Oregon.
The purpose of the event was to invite job seekers to consider what employment opportunities state agencies have to offer, and to encourage existing state workers to explore new job possibilities within state government. Over fifty agency representatives were available to interact with job seekers, answer their questions, describe the advantages of working in state government, and the satisfaction of following a career in public service. The turnout at the event far exceeded the planning team’s expectations with over 3,000 people in attendance.
