Seasonal flu information

Information

To reduce the chances of getting sick and to help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza, you should take the following measures and encourage consumers, family, and friends to:

  • Cover nose and mouth with your sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Immediately after use, throw the used tissue in the trash.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If infected with influenza, the CDC recommends staying at home from work or limiting contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Seasonal flu vaccine is available from many sources including your own doctor or health care provider. It is also available from retail outlets in or near your neighborhood. To find a retailer administering seasonal flu vaccinations, visit www.flucliniclocator.org.
