| Basic import requirements |
|
To enter Oregon, most vertebrate animals must have:
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (abbreviated CVI, sometimes incorrectly called a ´health certificate´) issued less than 30 days prior to entry - and-
- Import permit issued by this office. For a permit, call 503-986-4680. Staff is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Pacific time. After hours an automated system answers the permit line, records minimal information about the shipment, and issues a shipping permit number. Clinic staff must call the next regular working day to complete the import permit.

| TB testing dairy cattle |
|
A negative TB test is required for bovines of dairy breeds imported for breeding and/or dairy purposes and two months of age or older within the 60 day period before entering the state.
Imported dairy animals less than two months of age, sexually intact and not tested must be officially identified with an ear tag, restricted at a designated facility until they are tested at no more than two months of age. The department will accept TB test results from animals as young as 60 days of age and would prefer that animals be tested before arriving in Oregon.
TB testing is not required for bovines of dairy breeds that are sexually neutered and imported to be fed for slaughter.
